Light Graffiti

Who would have ever connect, the artist, Man Ray to the new art medium of light graffiti.  Man Ray used long exposures and moving a light source in front of the camera to create his work, 'Space Writing.'
A long time may have pass since 1937, when Man Ray created this piece, but his idea has influenced many young artists.
Light graffiti is fascinating to look at- it catches one's eye.  This style would be a great new medium to use for advertising.  Seeing your first piece of light graffiti will stick with you.  Seeing it will make you want to research it- find the history of light graffiti and find out what the artist was trying to say with their piece.

People working in marketing and graphic design should really grasp this new medium. It would be a great eye-catching ad or picture that will make people stop and look closer.

Coffeehouses.

What is a coffeehouse? The name coffeehouse sets the tone to most. A place were one can sit and peacefully enjoy a cup of well-brewed coffee. One thinks of the smells that infiltrate your nose the moment one walks into the shop.
Most coffeehouses have a neutral color scheme-very earthy. There are also expectations of music at coffeehouses—peaceful and something that can stand in the background of conversions. Not all coffeehouses portray this sigma though.
A local coffeehouse in Racine, Mocha Lisa, is a former farmhouse turned into a coffeehouse about 6 years ago. The interior colors are not earthy, rather bright and artistic. The shop specializes in local artist’s work. Beautiful artwork sprays the walls; along with the usual coffeehouse mugs and pots one can buy. I particularly like this coffeehouse, because the baristas are friendly and are willing to joke around with the customers, but they realize when the customer is busy with work to leave them be.
The baristas make everyone feel as if they are a regular and help a new customer (or even a regular) make a wise decision when trying new drinks out.
While, Mocha Lisa recently went through a changing of hands, owners-wise. The new owner, Sue Brucker, kept the feel of the coffeehouse the same as the previous owner had set.

Bristol Palin PSA

This past year has been a roller coaster, or maybe a trip on quad skates. I am training to try-out for roller derby in the summer. Eek! I know, me on skates and not stable ground. So far the work out is hard, but I am loving every moment.
Recently I began interning at Serve Marketing. I love my internship and the people I work with. Working here, has helped me realize that I want to continue working with non-profits. I love helping people. I also love educating the public, though sometimes the public tends to be very finicky with accepting the truth.
For instance, the Bristol Palin PSA that recently came out was created by Serve Marketing for the Candies Foundation. People do not realize what the PSA is saying. Everyone is saying it is an abstinence only ad or Bristol is saying she has it easy, but those who do not have a rich family will not be so lucky. She is not saying either of those things. The ad clearly states, "Pause. Before you play."
What does "pause, before you play" mean? It could mean a variety of things- did you take your birth control, put on a condom, or I'm not ready.
Bristol is saying also she has it hard being a teen mom, but she is lucky to have a supportive family. There are many teen moms that are thrown out of their houses, and have to drop out of school. Some teen moms scrape to get by. Do you want this life? Pause, think about the consequences before you do something you may regret.
